English 1 or English 1 Pre-AP is the first English class you will take in high school. This class is primarily designed for freshmen that will be taking the Reading TAKS test in February; therefore, we will read a great deal of the time and explore various authors such as O. Henry, Harper Lee, Edgar Allan Poe, Homer, Shakespeare, and John Steinbeck. Although I deeply love literature, we will study grammar including the eight parts of speech, subject complements, verbals, and sentence structure. Some people call me the Grouchy Grammarian because I love grammar so much.
