| Art 1,2,3,&4 Art - the first language |
The beauty and wonder of art is that we began expressing ourselves in a visual form in our early years. It may have been the first time we smeared our hands in oatmeal or the first time we made a mark with a large crayon or stacked colorful blocks. And so it began - a life long effort to express ourselves in a visual form. A child needs art the way they need to run and play in the sunshine. It comes from somewhere inside the soul bringing much joy. This natural expression stimulates creativity and develops problem solving skills needed for other areas of life. As children grow older they become less comfortable with artistic expression and become quite critical of themselves leading to no effort for expression at all.
Art I will give guidance and teach them how to use the elements and principles of design to create art and hopefully re-instill that joy and confidence they once had as a very small child. The advanced classes will offer more time for developing skills and trying different media. |
