My name is Maggie Gonzales and this is my 2nd year to teach at Tye Elementary. I grew up in Tye and spent 13 years of my life going through the Merkel school system. I am a successful product of this district and I look forward to teaching in a school I stand behind 100%. After graduating from Merkel High, I went on to graduate from McMurry University and receive my teaching certificate in Elem Education and ESL (English as a Second Language).
After finishing college, my husband and I decided to move to the Metrolpex, where I taught kindergarten for three years. Teaching kinder was a wonderful experience, but I was ready for a new challenge in a different place. My family, and I decided to move back home where I was offered a job at Tye and was thrilled to have a chance to be in a school where I knew I could really make a difference.
I look forward to working closely with the faculty and staff to do everything possible to give each student a chance to enjoy learning while being successful. I look forward to this year and getting to meet many new students.
