Kindergarten is Fun!
|
Hello, welcome to kindergarten at Tye Elementary. My name is Marie Marez. I have taught kindergarten 10 years for Merkel ISD. I have been in the teaching profession for 26 years. I find it very rewarding to watch students have fun and learn at the same time.
My classroom is a learning environment of hands on and stuctured base instruction. I believe that a child learns by doing. Through Saxon phonics and balanced literacy, my students build a strong foundation for reading. Technology and manipulatives are used daily to reinforce introduced material in all areas of the curriculum. Throughout the year the students learn self responsibility and good citizenship. Each year is an adventure I enjoy and treasure.

My Family

My husband, Lupe and I have been married for 8 years. We have 5 grown children and 6 grandchildren. We own our own business, L&M Gamebirds. This keeps us busy year round. For fun, we enjoy family barbecues, fishing, and watching sports. We are HUGE Dallas Cowboy fans!! |

Student Favorites
|
My students enjoy the many learning centers available to them. The painting and home center are two of their very favorites. I use literacy and math tubs to enhance their learning experience. We have special days that go along with the letter of the week. Clown Day, Bear Day, Cowboy Day, Show & Tell Day are a few of the special days that are fun. Field trips are also a favorite with my students. We go to Abilene Regional Airport, HSU Western Heritage Day, Abilene Zoo, and May Farm. Our yearly field day is held at Camp Butman in May. |
