 Merkel Middle School is located seventeen miles due west of Abilene, Texas on Interstate 20. We are a small class AAA school with approximately 350 students. Though small in size we’re big in spirit! Our campus includes grades six through eight. Our students and faculty are made up of a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds that blend together to make Merkel Middle School a winning combination. Our school yearly scores marks of “recognized” or “exceptional” on the state’s TAKS test. In addition to success in academics our extracurricular activities such as band, choir, theater arts, art and athletic programs are very competitive and bring much pride to our school and community.
