 Welcome to the 2008/09 school year at Merkel Middle School! Merkel ISD is a Class AA school district located 17 miles west of Abilene. Our Middle School campus , serving grades 6 – 8, has approximately 300 students. Though small in size we're big in spirit! Our small school feel provides a personalized teaching experience and a friendly learning environment for each child.
Our students and faculty are made up of a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds, blending together to make Merkel Middle School a winning combination. Over the past few years, our annual TAKS scores have ranked us as a “Recognized” or “Exceptional” campus.
Not only do we strive to excel in academics, we also provide a selection of extracurricular activities such as athletics, band, art, and choir. Students involved in these activities are very competitive and make our school and community very proud!
