First grade brings a year of amazing academic change into a child's life. The greatest amount of knowledge is offered during the first grade school year. Children begin the year with readiness skills and end the year with fluent reading, writing, language, spelling, and math skills. They have been introduced to the basis for their future studies in social studies, science, and health. They further their abilities in music, art, and physical education. They have grown not only mentally, but also socially. First graders are a great group to teach. They are eager and ready to learn and to try new things. I really enjoy each new and exciting day in first grade.
