Tuesday night meetings --
During football season we will meet from 6:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the band hall.
General information
Who is a band booster?
A band booster is any parent, relative and/or friend of a student in band.

What does a band booster do?
The band boosters are a dedicated group of parents who volunteer their time and talent to ensure the success of each of the performing groups at Merkel. We work closely with the Directors, providing the talent and experience to help with the many details that must be taken care of for each performance. We are also involved in fund-raising for the band program. Most of all, we are there to cheer our talented students on!

Why do we need a booster group?
To save time and money and to assure that the students basic needs are met. The Directors do their best to provide a quality music education for your child, which takes a great deal of time and energy. We may not be able to help teach music, but we can help fit uniforms, move equipment, provide food and hydration needs for the kids, raise money so ALL the kids can go on group trips, and just be an adult presence to show the kids we care.

How can I help?
Contact the Band Booster president, Willard Unruh or any band booster member and let them know your availability.

How can I keep informed?
Come to the monthly booster meetings! They last only an hour, but this is where you can get your questions answered, learn where you can help, learn what fund raisers are coming up, and to find out the things your kid forgets to tell you.

How can I lower my out-of-pocket expense?
By helping out with fundraisers through out the year. Each student has an account which funds can be deposited in to pay for trips and supplies. Fundraisers also help to purchase needed equipment to keep this fine program running smoothly.
Mission statement
The mission of the Merkel Band Booster is to volunteer personal time to help promote the music program at Merkel ISD. To show support, spirit and pride of all the students involved in all aspects of band. Encourage other parents of band members to support and get involved in fundraising.

Just as there can be no music without education - There can be no education without music.
