If you just can't wait until I'm done teaching. Each child is given 10 "bathroom bucks" each Monday. For every $5 that the child has left on Friday, they get to buy a treasure box treasure from the treasure chest. So, if a child doesn't have to leave the classroom, during instructional time, to go to the restroom or get a drink, then they get to purchase 2 prizes on Friday. If a child only spends 1-4 bathroom bucks during the week, they get to buy 1 treasure. If a child doesn't have enough money to buy at least one treasure on Friday, then they will not be allowed to buy a treasure and he/she and I will talk about how much instructional time they are losing because they are out of the classroom.
As a class, we take bathroom breaks throughout the day but if a child needs to go they can pay $1 each time they leave the classroom.
In case of an emergency (diarrhea/throwing up): a child NEVER needs to pay a buck or ask to leave the classroom. |
