Tye Elementary School is home to a full-featured Head Start program. Head Start is a federal program designed to help pre-school children who might not be ready for school otherwise. Head Start is administered by the US Department of Health and Human Services, and include resources for parents and caregivers in addition to the classroom education for children.
How do I know if my family qualifies for Head Start?
Generally, if a parent recieves welfare or disability income, the child is immediately qualified for Head Start. Otherwise eligibility is determined by income level. Children with disabilities may also qualify.

What can my family receive from Head Start?
Head Start has many benefits for children and their families, including:

- Medical and dental services
- Parenting training and resources
- Job training benefits
- Health and nutrition services
How do I register my child?
Applications are taken all throughout the year. You can apply as soon as your child turns 3 years old.
